Small Parts Coating Cell Awarded by International Partner
An international F-35 partner procures Aerobotix to design, build, and deliver a turn-key robotic coating system for the F-35 inlet ducts. The partner builds the mid-body of the Joint Strike Fighter to contribute to the manufacture of the JSF, also known as “Lightning II,” in the international community. Aerobotix will install and program the robot at the customer’s site and support them through initial low rate production. The robotic system is required to reach deep into the inlet ducts and apply coatings accurately, efficiently, and safely to meet the programs requirements. “We see several opportunities where we can provide the international F-35 team some of the ‘tried and true’ automation that is already in use here in the states,” says Kirk McLauchlin, President of Aerobotix.
