Robotic Technology Park Asset to Aerobotix
Rick Maroney, Project Manager at the Robotics Technology Park (RTP), recently assisted Aerobotix with a time sensitve Air Force automation project. The RTP is available to Alabama businesses for robotic training and testing and they make it easy to use. Rick allowed Aerobotix to attach a custom End of Arm Tool to a new FANUC LR Mate Material Handling Robot so a performance test could be executed. Without the RTP Aerobotix would have had to fly to FANUC in Detroit or order the robot unsure of how it would perform. “Rick was great,” says Kent Pfeifer, Project Lead for the program. “His only requirment was to leave it the way we found it,” says Kent. The test was successful and Aerobotix immediately ordered the robot, maintaining Air Force expectations. Aerobotix is scheduling training at the facility and will be a regular user and partner to the facility.
