Rick Maroney, a Project Manager at Alabama Robotics Technology Park (RTP), assisted Aerobotix with a time-sensitive Air Force automation project at their state-of-the-art facility in Tanner, Alabama. Rick allowed our team to attach a custom end-of-arm tool, or EOAT, to their FANUC LR Mate industrial robot for performance testing.
Rick was great,” says Kent Pfeifer, the project engineer on the AF program. “His only requirement was to leave it the way we found it.” Without the RTP, Aerobotix would have had to fly to FANUC America, located in Detroit, or order the robot without knowing how it would perform with their specific application.
The test was successful, and Aerobotix immediately ordered the robot, ensuring they could meet Air Force expectations on schedule.
The RTP is available to Alabama businesses for robotic training and testing, making advanced robotics accessible to local companies.
